Pamela’s History

Pamela Shawley Weaver was raised in Bellefonte, PA, and always had an interest in art as a child.  She received a regional high school art award for a figurative oil painting in a show at Schlow Library.  Oil painting and charcoal drawing were her primary mediums at that time.

1970’s

Pamela got married in 1970 and raised two sons, Jason and Aaron Fischer.  She continued her art education at Penn State University through the continuing education program in the 1970’s.  Sales of her pastel artwork, including commissioned works, began in the mid 1970’s.  Starting to exhibit her pastel work, she was juried into one of the early Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts shows.

1980’s

A commission for a series of three artworks entitled, “Hawk Trilogy,” began her first series of limited edition prints.  Other limited editions followed, such as, “Dream Weaver”, “Arabesque” and “Eye of the Storm.”  Pamela began to exhibit her work in art festivals.

1990’s

Pamela remarried to Peter Weaver.  Art was evolving.  A course in sculpture in 1994 turned her passion to the three dimensional.  Starting out in ceramic sculpture eventually led to her first bronze artwork.

Mid 90’s – 2006

Pamela began to produce many commissions in both ceramic and bronze.  Her work spanned the United States, from California to Florida, and beyond to international collectors.  The majority of these works were canine pieces given that she and her husband showed dogs and included her artwork the the competitions.

Pamela also exhibited in many juried art festivals and fine arts shows primarily in the Northeast US, also securing gallery representation in Pennyslvania, Massachusetts, and Maryland.

This is when Pamela also began pariticipating in many art festivals and fine art shows primarily in the Northeast US, also securing gallery representation in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts , and Maryland.

Pamela also started to work with companies to reproduce and distribute smaller resin editions of her work.  Big Sky Carvers produced a small resin version of “Incoming.”

2006

Artwork and dog shows became superceded by Pamela’s husband’s medical condition.  Long recovery and multiple hospital stays were the new norm.  Caring for him and their animals became Pamela’s primary concern, consuming most of her time and energy.

2012

In 2012, Pamela was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Life then revolved around chemotherapy, radiation, and multiple surgeries.  Drained of creative energy, she was left with little motivation or physical energy.

2013

In the latter half of the year, the desire to create art was coming back.  Pamela began feeling motivated to express herself through her work.  She returned to Bellefonte, PA, her hometown, with her husband, Peter, and her dear boxer friends, Lily and Forest.
